A. I have been involved with ancient coins for over 30 years and can easily spot a fake. Additionally, I purchase my material from reputable auction houses who authenticate each item before offering them for sale.
A. No. The coins are totally incased within a bezel which is folded around the entire rim of the coin. On pendants, a bail-ring suspension system is used so the contact points almost completely encircle the bezel. The bail-ring suspension system also allows for a bimetallic effect which acts as a frame for the original art.
A. I will and I have but I cannot guarantee your satisfaction or that the coin won’t be damaged in the mounting process. I would rather offer you a quality piece from my inventory where I have assumed the entire risk. So far, I have no dissatisfied customers and I don’t intend to have any.
A. No. Working in gold would put me in the same category as any other commercial jeweler whose primary interest is to sell sparkle and shine, and this is not the purpose of my work. My intent is to share our Greek and Roman heritage and my working in gold doesn’t contribute to that intention.
A. Yes. Quality ancient coins will appreciate in value over time. Coins that I could have owned for an investment of $50.00 or $60.00 are now selling in the thousands.
